Media Bonanza: Will Free Benefit the Rich

So last Friday I gave a talk at the Berkman Center riffing on my most recent policy quandary: Will Free Benefit the Rich? That is, will the widespread availability of free and open educational resources disproportionately benefit already-advantaged students? Is this a policy problem, or is it actually desirable in the long run? If we wanted to create education technology interventions to support disadvantaged learners, what would that look like?
The video and the slides are below. You should particular enjoy the various parts where I'm grilled by Harry Lewis, former dean of Harvard College and S.J. Klein of OLPC. I'm always grateful to the tough questioners.
I also was featured in an article in the Boston Pheonix, where I was asked to raise some questions about MITx in the light of my research. I made one mistatement in the article, which I plan to correct in my next post.
