Dan Meyer Live Tweets Sal Khan
This needed to be saved for posterity. (Dan, let me know if you want me to take it down). Hilarious and germane. If you want to read more of Dan’s work, please do check out blog.mrmeyer.com. It’s certainly the best reading out there on math education.

This is a teacher? No wonder education in this country sucks. Teachers have the same maturity level as their students.
How am I supposed to take this clown seriously?
Our first hater comment! My little blog is growing up so fast.
The tweets are satire. The whole point of satire is to take the clown seriously.
Education in this country is actually very good in many respects, if it does “suck” in any particular dimension, it’s primarily due to inequitable funding mechanisms and residential segregation by income, though I’d include a host of other secondary factors: inadequate human capital strategies; an over-emphasis on local control that cripples collaborative efforts and produces incoherence between curriculum, assessment, teacher training, and classroom instruction; an unfortunate swing in recent decades from being underassessed to being overassessed (and in the wrong way); a dearth of clear language about pedagogy in schools; the challenges of transitioning to a networked and information rich world, and on and on. I don’t think having satirists in the educational community is responsible for our problems.
